Because of people like this, well before I was born, I was allowed the freedom, growing up, to contemplate romantic liaisons with the pasty-faced, light-eyed folk around me. I've never even really considered not being in a mixed-race relationship, and I'm grateful that, once again, it's a fight I didn't have to experience.
Accidental pioneers? Sure. But thank you, all the same.
